Saturday April 10 Jamestown Meets Buffalo $10.00
We came... We saw friends... We rocked... that all went down last week (February 6th) when Jamestown-area bands came up to play a Private Party Series show at the wonderful Sportsmen’s Tavern. And we are coming back....! On Saturday, April 10th, we have three acts coming to rock Jamestown style - Live at the Sportsmen's Tavern. The thing I love the most about the Jamestown scene is the great sense of community we have established among artists. We really respect and support each other and we have a lot of great talent to share. On the bill: Cindy Haight - A rockabilly aficionado, Cindy Haight has been a big part of the local Jamestown NY music scene. She started playing local open mic nights @ 17 before moving to NYC and playing with blues band Gin & Juice. Blues were sung, and life was lived, children were had, music was made… Cindy now lives in Jamestown and plays as a solo artist locally and around the region. She also hosts a local Radio show called “Mystery Train- rockabilly Rollercoaster Ride”, which airs at 10pm Tuesdays on the local low power station WRFA-l p 107.9FM and streams on the web at www.wrfalp.com.
In 2009, Cindy released her very first solo CD entitled “Songs of Love and Haight”, which is a collection of songs about falling in love and dealing with heartbreak. Friend Amanda Barton (of Steve John Band) guests on the CD with fiddle and vocal tracks. And good news. Cindy is on the lineup at this years' Great Blue Heron Music festival! She will start the night at 8pm. www.myspace.com/cindyhaight
Matt Homan and the Bluegrass Disciples - Matt Homan is a multi-instrumental, talented performer and songwriter and an old friend of mine (we played together in a band called the Derbines a few years back). The Disciples includes Dylan Derby, Marcus Wells on guitar and the amazing Stanley Barton (father to the lovely Amanda Barton) on fiddle (yes, crazy talent runs in that family!). This band plays a lot of Matt's songs and some sweet bluegrass traditional, and the musical harmonies fill the room with beauty! The Bluegrass Disciples will play 9:30pm.www.myspace.com/haybalers King Rail King Rail is a country-blues-rock band and includes veteran musicians from our area. They have described themselves as being "on the bluesier side of blues. Sometimes we sound heavier and other times we have a more classic country sound going. And part of the reason why it can change over the period of a gig is because we all love those different genres." King Rail features the awesome Jamie Trusler on guitar - sure to be a favorite of yours if you love blue sguitar!
